The Yogo Sapphire Butterfly features a rare collection of sapphires from Yogo Gulch, Montana. The head of the butterfly has a 0.87 carat bluish-purple gem. The body of the butterfly has beautiful blue sapphires that have a total weight of 4.93 carats, and the wings have 6.00 carats of sapphires. All of the Yogo sapphires are natural color and have not been heat treated. The butterfly is accented with18.61 carats of rainbow moonstones from Madagascar and 1.24 carats of diamonds. The 18k yellow gold Yogo Sapphire Butterfly is part of a collection of 18 jeweled butterfly brooches created and designed by Elvis "Buzz" Gray and Bernadine Johnston. The butterflies were gifted to the National Gem Collection by the Smithsonian Gem and Mineral Collectors.
