The Jeremejevite Butterfly is comprised of different colors of jeremejevites. The blue center stone is a 3.41 carat oval. The yellow cushion cut gem is 1.19 carats. And the total weight of the smaller jeremejevites is 3.71 carats, varying in color from shades of blue, to yellows and colorless. Jeremejevite is most often found as colorless, white, pale yellow or blue crystals. Typically found in small sizes, it is a rare and valuable collector’s gem. The 18k yellow gold Jeremejevite Butterfly is part of a collection of 18 jeweled butterfly brooches created and designed by Elvis "Buzz" Gray and Bernadine Johnston. The butterflies were gifted to the National Gem Collection by the Smithsonian Gem and Mineral Collectors.
